Comunication / La Comunicación

In English:
I do not see my family often, but we communicate, at least to a certain degree by telephone and e mail. The human race received the privilege of communication as the Creator´s gift, and as a result communication is a need within our beings. Perhaps for this reason death yields its greatest blow when the last breath suddenly ends all communication with that loved one.

God Himself communicates within the Trinity, and delights to commune with the beings He brought into existence. Through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, God provided a mediator in order to give us the possiblity of free and profound communication with God.

The Bible, in the Gospel of Luke chapter eleven, tells us that Jesus healed someone who had been deprived of the ability to communicate. As Jesus healed this person, He identified Satan as the one who robs us of communication. Man´s initial obedience to Satan in the garden of Eden, introduced communicational breakdown and the ultimate communicational closure through death.

However, loss or deficiency in human communication does not necessarily mean the loss of deep and intimate communication. The death of someone with whom we communicated, a sickness which prohibits communication, or the painful existence of a dead relationship between two living beings, do not exclude the possibility of deep and intimate communication with God, the author of communication.

No human communication was ever designed to substitute the most satisfying communication of the heart, which is found in God alone. My communication with Richard was confined by our humanness. We had to learn to give each other our full attention, to listen to what the other said, to not impatiently give our own opinions before the other finished talking. Superficial conversatons, egotistical motivations in conversation, and misrepresentation of what we want to say cause us to live communicaitonal deaths with those living around us.

Let us not loose the opportunity to commuicate deeply and fully with the One who best communicates. God, who has always communicated perfectly, provided His living book, the Bible, to communicate His truths to us. He designed us to find fulfilment in communing with Him about all that is in our hearts. Would we not be fools to not avail ourselves of this privilege?

Each one of us will face eternity. For those who die spiritually, communication closure will then be the greatest ever experienced. To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord means the most satisfying fulfilment in communication. To not believe means death to communicatin for all eternity.

Hebrews 1:1-2
"Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors. . .
And now. . . He has spoken to us through his Son."

Hebreos 1:1-2
"Dios habiendo hablado hace mucho tiempo, en muchas ocasiones,
y de muchas maneras. . .
nos ha hablado en su Hijo. . ."

God and the Hungry Heart / Dios y el vacío del corazón

In English:
My starved widow´s heart yearned for the affection and protecting leadership of a husband. On my dental visit, the dentist´s arms around my head felt surprisingly gratifying as he drilled on my teeth! "If only I could get married again," I repeatedly thought, "life would be so much better."

During my second winter alone, an elderly widower called me frequently. Our pleasant conversations were comforting and made me think about the possibility of marriage. "He is a little old, but if I married him I would not have to live alone," I doubtfully argued within myself.

"If this decision is right for you, you will have peace about it," wise counselors advised me. Peace of heart seemed a long way off as my emotions surged and tumbled.

As time passed, thankfully my restless heart quieted. I realized that God was building wisdom into my life by teaching me to make this decision on my own.

The Lord patiently showed me the motivations of my heart. Affection and a man to help me carry life´s responsiblities would fill my lonely heart, I had assumed. I gave preference to counsel in agreement with the romantic option I longed for. I had turned the desire for marriage into an idol in my mind.

How can a hungry heart be filled? In "The Confessions of Saint Augustine," Augustine said, "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it comes to you." Only by enjoying intimate communion with the presence of the Beloved Godhead will our longings cease. Christ should come to be "infinitely beyond comparison with the choicest created good or endearment imaginable," says John Owen in "Communion with the Triune God."

Guard time in your life for the Eternally Beloved. Fight against demands and pleasures that rob you of the best. Construct a time to shut out the phone, work´s constant demands, and stray thoughts. Hide yourself in a quiet place with a Bible, a notebook, and a book that will teach you about the Person of God. Simply enjoy being with God. He will not disappoint you. He fills the hungry heart.

The Gospel of John 4:13-14
Jesus replied,. . .
"But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again."

No te va a desilusionar. Él llena el corazón hambriento.

El Evangelio de San Juan 4:13-14
Respondió Jesús y le dijo:. . .
